CREDIT EUROPE BANK NV FORFAITING ACTIVITIES:

Credit Europe Bank NV has started its forfaiting business in 1997 and is today one of the major players in the international forfaiting arena. As an indication of our early commitment to this niche field of banking we were one of the first to join the International Forfaiting Association (www.forfaiters.org)

Global Forfaiting and EM Loan Trading department trades in a wide range of instruments, such as syndicated loans, promissory notes, bills of exchange, letters of credit, Islamic finance agreements and silent-risk confirmations as well as corporate loans. The department had a total trading size of EUR 1.2 billion during 2009. Russia and Turkey have traditionally occupied top spots in terms of volume traded.

Our forfaiting volume has tripled in 2009; with 55 different counter-parties. This figure is an increase from EUR 410 million in the year 2008, mainly stemming from opportunistic approach and confidence in our core markets where yields and margins have surged due to the global financial crisis. The year of 2009 has been the most profitable in the history of the department. Furthermore, the year saw the highest volume ever traded.
